well my thoughts are a bit different from yours, I agree to the fact that most of the people thought of having an MBA just to have a good job with handsome salary, however, this isn't necessary for all, people do go for MBA degree because their brains are more towards understanding and analyzing business processes and plans.

You are raising an important point. Let's say half of the value of an MBA is in the teaching of business, which the article covers. The other half is in getting the diploma, the network and the brand recognition. I guess my view is that for the average MBA person, whose goal is to get a high-paying job in a mid-size to Fortune 500 company, the piece of paper and the network are very important - go get the MBA program. For the 1% of hackers who like to get ahead of everyone else and take the fast lane to life, the App Store is an intriguing approach. More efficient.

While I wouldn't consider this a match for a full MBA, I do think that the most important lesson becoming an iPhone developer will teach you is learning how to teach yourself. I'm currently learning iPhone programming myself and it's really tough to keep going. I have found that with no deadlines I have to be disciplined to set my own. That's a tough lesson to learn in itself. Before I started, I didn't know the first thing about Objective C or the IOS SDK or Xcode. I started by subscribing and watching all the iTunes-U podcasts I could find on the subject, bought myself an OReilly book and a Wiley book and just started reading them. I found the OReilly book kept me going whereas this particular Wiley book's content was somewhat disorganized. I've had to learn the hard way that doing my research before I begin is critical. I had a really great idea for a game and while I was still in the concept phase I learned that there was already a couple games which implemented the mechanics that I wanted to use in my game. I was very disappointed because I had invested a lot of my emotion into this concept. I learned that I should not get so attached to my projects. I caught myself treating this too much like a hobby and not like a serious business. I'm carrying on, trying to come up with some more great ideas while putting what I'm learning into practice.

I think this is a pretty good idea. I guess this is only for CS people? That's a problem for me as I'm a business guy. Maybe I could add a step in and hire a CS person to write the app for me.

@Jake Cutter: your comment is silly, not the blog post. The author is right, selling an app on the App Store can be very educational and he makes clear points; something that you don't.
